Here I have put on all the first layers of paint on the model. It was basecoated black, and the blue is the old Citadel colour Enchanted Blue (haven't found a substitute for this one yet). I painted the cloak with Citadel Liche Purple (also a old one) and choose colour for the hilt on the weapon as well. For the metal parts I used Army Painters
The beauty about having to paint your army is that you can use any color scheme. You can even use ultramarine colors for your undivided warband. If you're really set in black legion then you should know that the colors arent just "black" and "gold." Theres multiple shades of each color that you can try out. 7.
So I purchased an old WHFB Warriors of Chaos regiment from my friend and started to paint the Chaos Warriors. Some of them were already painted (first 3 pictures, one on the right) and I attempted to brush up on the same color scheme a little better and neater (first 3 pictures, one on the left). Chaos black base. Leadbelcher spray. Ironbreaker drybrush. Runefang on some small areas to break up larger areas. Balthasar gold on trim areas. Agrax Earthshade wash. Necron Compound light drybrush, avoiding balthasar gold areas. Hashut copper on trim areas. Go sparing on the hazard stripes, maybe three small or two medium areas on each marine

First prime the model black, and give it a nice dry brush with a dark brown. Next dry brush the model with a gunmetal color lightly as to help the brown show through a little bit. Next if you plan on using gold trim apply it here as wearing the gold down will be made easier in later steps. Cover the model in a brown wash this will help darker
